Water Safety at The Anchor School
At The Anchor School, student safety extends beyond the classroom. Learning to be safe in and around water is an essential life skill, and we are proud to share trusted resources from the YMCA and the American Red Cross that help families build awareness and confidence.
The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program teaches children how to recognize and respond to potential dangers, offering practical skills such as “swim, float, swim” and “jump, push, turn, grab” to stay safe until help arrives. The American Red Cross Water Safety guide reinforces these lessons with tips for swimming safely, preventing accidents, and understanding open-water risks.
Together, these materials provide families with tools and knowledge to make swimming a safe and enjoyable experience for all. We encourage parents and students to explore both documents below and review these life-saving lessons.
